How to resize a photo?

This FAQ was created by Brenda Gailie Milligan to assist those of you who unsure how to resize a photo

 

600px on the longest side is the maximum allowed on any of the competitions.

 

 

Below you will find information and/or instructions for resizing your photo’s using various photography editing software.

PICASA

 

Open your image in picasa.

 

Click on File, then export picture to folder

 

A dialogue box will pop up, the first line in the Export to folder box is:

 

“Export Location” the default is: (My Pictures\Picasa\Exports\Documents\), you will want to remember this location to be able to find your photo later

 

Next is “Name of exported folder” the default is: (Documents)

 

Now for the important option: Image Size, you will want to type in 600 in the white box where 800 is, this resizes your photo to the appropriate size for our competitions.

 

Click export

 

Now you are ready to post your photo in a competition. Go to the competition, and submit your photo.

PAINTSHOP PRO

 

Open your image in Corel Paintshop Pro

 

Click on Image, then resize

 

Go down to PIXEL DIMENSIONS

 

Put 600 in the width or height box, the opposite will automatically adjust

 

Click on File, save as and rename and store your photo where you can find it when you are ready to submit for the competition.

 

Now you are ready to post your photo in a competition. Go to the competition, and submit your photo.

PHOTOSHOP CS3,4,5 OR ELEMENTS

 

Open your image in your photoshop program

 

Click on Image, Image size

 

Put 600 in the width or height box, the opposite will automatically adjust

 

Click on File, save as and rename and store your photo where you can find it when you are ready to submit for the competition.

 

Now you are ready to post your photo in a competition. Go to the competition, and submit your photo.

IRFAN VIEW

 

Open your image in Irfan view

 

Click on Image, then resize/resample

 

Put 600 in the width or height box, the opposite will automatically adjust

 

Click on File, save as and rename and store your photo where you can find it when you are ready to submit for the competition.

 

Now you are ready to post your photo in a competition. Go to the competition, and submit your photo.

WEB RESIZER

 

This is an online program for resizing your photos.

 

Go to www.webresizer.com

 

Click on resize photo’s now – orange link on right hand side of page

 

Click on Choose file, select your file, then click open

 

Click upload image

 

Put 600 in the width or height box

 

Click apply changes

 

Click on download image and store your photo where you can find it when you are ready to submit for the competition.

 

Now you are ready to post your photo in a competition. Go to the competition, and submit your photo.
