"No Borders Nor Boundaries" - Where Photographers get together
Permalink Reply by CameraClicker on June 25, 2011 at 4:03pm Canon has a nice 70-200 constant aperture f/4, L series lens without image stabilization which is relatively inexpensive compared to the other 3 70-200 L series lenses they offer. This image and the next in the gallery were taken with it: http://cameraclicker.com/galleries/g6/m/pages/2006-06-11-13-10-58-I...
Sigma make a 50-500mm zoom lens which is not very fast but has had good ratings in the magazines. If you wanted to shoot smaller creatures, further away, 500mm is more helpful than 200.
Sigma also makes an 18-250mm zoom with a variable aperture in a DC lens which is fairly reasonably priced for what it does. It offers image stabilization and a macro mode. Most of the pictures in this gallery were taken with it on a 550D: http://cameraclicker.com/galleries/g14/mindex.htm
Tamron makes an 18-275mm zoom -- I have no experience with it.
Most of the current lenses are auto-focus. I am not aware of any that are not. The camera can usually focus faster and more accurately than you can, so auto-focus is usually a good thing.

Permalink Reply by Adeel Anwar on June 29, 2011 at 4:52am Hi Rohit,
i use to have only 18-55 lens i recently got 50 mm with F 1.8 and 18-250 with AF.
i highly recommend you to go for 18-250 zoom lens along with auto focus. it serve lots of your purposes. with out auto focus till 100mm you will be Ok but after that you might face problem with image shake or out of focus. it costs around US $ 600.
