I have made my own LiteScoops successfully.
check out the one for sale at http://litegenius.com/
I use this gadget extensively and absolutely love the results, replaced any diffuser I had used previously.
I have also made my own len hoods for various lenses that don't come equiped with one. As soon as I find that I'll also add it.

Example shots, not a good photo but does show the comparison!
BEFORE SHOT (especially notice the shading under the cap, this is always a difficult thing to compensate for without over-exposing the subject)

AFTER: This portrait was taken using the scoop (shading is gone, no over-exposure of face)

Here is an idea, I use a cheap plastic diffuser for my Canon Speedlight. Because it's so cheap I PAINT it with felt tipped pens, or draw a smiley face on it or write smile or say cheese and ask people to read it. It cleans easy and I think adds either colour or a bit of fun to the shots you take of people.
